Description
Macrocarpa is a medium density softwood, easier to ignite than gum and longer burning than pine. It is easy to split (great for kindling) but it also tends to spark and pop – for this reason it is not recommended for use in an open fire. We use a few different kinds of Macrocarpa (cypress) including Cupressus macrocarpa and the standard Monterey cypress, Cupressus can appear lighter in colour compared to Monterey which is more red.
PLEASE NOTE : This wood is unseasoned and for burning in 2024 winter, not 2023. It requires seasoning, ideally stored in a well ventilated area. Or left outside in the open to season and put away in dry storage around March 2024. If you require dry wood to burn now, please select something from our kiln dried products.
