Description
Gum is a hardwood and therefore is long and hot burning, we recommend starting the fire with a soft wood such as pine – however this is not necessary and kindling will also work. Our gum firewood is a combination of red gum, blue gum it may also contain Australian hardwoods black wattle and sheoak casuarina. Sold by the cubic meter.
Kiln dried wood is our superior product as it has been been dried in our kiln at 120 degrees for up to 72 hours, similar to a oven on fan bake – it dries the wood down to around 20% moisture.
Did you know- Gum shrinks once dried. Hardwood species can shrink by UP TO 15% once dried – meaning if you buy wood that isn’t fully dry you are paying more per cube. Our kiln dried wood is far superior to non dried options as the shrinking process has already happened.
