Description
Macrocarpa is a medium density softwood, easier to ignite than gum and longer burning than pine. It is easy to split (great for kindling) but it also tends to spark and pop – for this reason it is not recommended for use in an open fire. We use a few different kinds of Macrocarpa (cypress) including Cupressus macrocarpa and the standard Monterey cypress, Cupressus can appear lighter in colour compared to Monterey which is more red. For burning in 2025 winter – requires drying out.
